Kino Mediteran is a project aimed at revitalizing Dalmatian cinema, primarily by restoring movie houses and introducing film programs in smaller towns, where cinemas are long closed. Kino Mediteran’s program focus are independent films of the European and worldwide cinema, as well as programs for children and youth. The project encompasses 25 cities and small towns, and there are 12 cinemas open all year round. In the first 9 months of 2017, we had 470 screenings, visited by 24,000 viewers. Our project has successfully digitalized cinemas in Bol, Hvar, Imotski, Komiža, Pirovac, and Supetar, and we have procured cinema equipment for Jelsa, Lastovo and Mljet. Since the beginning, we have cooperated with Zagreb Film Festival which has contributed to our program with numerous films. We are glad to present the Zagreb audience with one of our summer season hits, the Norwegian film From the Balcony. It is the latest work of director Ole Giæver, already familiar to the Zagreb audience through his hit Out of Nature. The film follows a year in the life of Ole and his family. Enjoy this unusual and humorous journey to the depths of human existence, have fun, and don’t forget to visit us in one of the Kino Mediteran towns!
