Tuškanac Cinema
Croatian Film Clubs’ Association, in collaboration with the Croatian Cinematheque, launched Film Programmes in 2001 to meet the educational needs of around 50 thousand high school and university students in Zagreb whose courses are related to media culture, i.e. the history of film.
Tuškanac Cinema’s programmes follow on the programme lines established at the very beginning of the project: listing recognisability for all the lovers of film art; exemplary care of the programme quality; carefully balanced repertory between art content and contemporary non-commercial production of all types of audiovisual expression and catering to all tastes. The schedule therefore includes art-house programmes of classic Croatian and foreign film, original and thematic film cycles, presentations of recent film productions from different European and non-European countries, short documentary, fiction and animated film programmes, with special experimental film programmes, organisation and co-organisation of special premieres, festivals and events in the theatre.
In the atmosphere of general commercialisation, the Croatian Film Clubs’ Association and Tuškanac Cinema adamantly remain Zagreb’s cinematic cultural backbone, a place gathering not only film experts but primarily high school and college students, comprising the largest part of Tuškanac’s audience.
