This deliciously biting social satire wrapped in tragedy is a story about Janet, a politician who just got a big promotion. To celebrate this occasion, Janet decides to throw a little party in her London home for her husband Bill and some close friends. The guests arrive, some carrying big news of their own, and then Bill knocks everyone off their chairs with his announcement. The party, which is already slowly unravelling, suddenly escalates into an open confrontation. Love, friendships, even political convictions, topple like a house of cards, taking illusions with them. A night that started with champagne ends by spilling blood. The film premiered at Berlinale, where it was awarded the Guild Film Prize.
