On his return from summer camp, 17-year-old Phil notices a mysterious cooling in the relationship between his mother and twin sister. He is eager to find out what happened, but unwilling to risk confrontations. Instead, he spends the last summer days with his friend Kat. When a new student, Nicholas, joins their school, Phil falls head over heels for the handsome and mysterious newcomer, leaving Kat engulfed with jealousy. The burden of family issues, compromised friendship, and first love force Phil to mature and sort out his priorities. This amusing and quirky story about growing up and discovering passion is an adaptation of the eponymous book, the first young adult novel to be included on the bestseller list of the German magazine Der Spiegel.
