Contemporary western in which a cowboy becomes a German construction worker, while everyday communication takes over the role stagecoaches and revolvers used to play in showdowns. A group of German workers arrives at a construction site in rural Bulgaria. One of them is newcomer Meinhard, a reticent lone wolf regarded by his colleagues with suspicion and curiosity. The foreign land and amazing landscape awaken the men’s desire for adventure, which brings them into conflict with the local population. Prejudice and animosity are rife and everything is ready for the final showdown. The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. It was produced by Maren Ade, the director of last year’s sensation and LUX Prize winner, Toni Erdmann.
