Lover for a Day
Find out more
Summer in the early 80s. Seventeen-year-old Elio intends to spend his holidays at the family villa in northern Italy doing nothing but swimming, sunbathing, and hanging out with friends. However, Elio is thrown out of balance when Oliver, a handsome student of his father, enters the scene. Oliver’s charms stir feelings of unexpected, powerful attraction. The third part of Guadagnino’s unofficial trilogy about desire (I Am Love, A Bigger Splash) is a coming-of-age story about first love. It was written by James Ivory, legendary screenwriter and director, renowned for his awarded adaptations of literary classics (A Room with a View, Remains of the Day). The 35 mm film makes the sensual dreaminess of the sunny Italian landscape even more irresistible.
