Remake of the 1971 cult pulp thriller from director Don Siegel (Dirty Harry, Escape from Alcatraz), with Clint Eastwood in the leading role. Irishman John McBurney (Coiln Farrell) is a mercenary fighting for the North in the American Civil War. He is found severely wounded in the forest by a young girl, Amy, who takes him to a female boarding school. John is the only man in the isolated Southern villa and an object of great curiosity to the religious girls inhabiting the place. His arrival arouses repressed passions, which John cunningly uses to his advantage. When the girls expose his proclivity for seduction, there is a dark twist. Winner of the Best Director Award at Cannes. Sofia Coppola’s second film, Lost in Translation, was screened at the 2003 ZFF.
