A romantic comedy which challenges stereotypes, based on the experience of its screenwriter and main actor, Osamah Sami. Ali is the son of a Muslim cleric, who despite best intentions always does the wrong thing. He has big dreams – he is in love with one girl, but facing arranged marriage to another. He wants to become a successful doctor according to the wishes of his community, but his grades are bad. Above all, he wants to make his father proud. The only way he can meet these expectations is lying. One bad decision leads to another and his recklessness gets out of control, with disastrous consequences. With its cheeky but warm humour, Ali’s Wedding addresses the topics of family, duty, and love in the multicultural Australia.
